Introduction
The letter dated 28 August 1942 discusses the transfer of furs confiscated from those murdered in Kulmhof (Chelmno) to the Waffen-SS, a branch of the Nazi military forces. According to the Higher SS and Police Leader in Posen, Wilhelm Koppe, a wagonload of “high-quality furs” had been delivered to Berlin for the benefit of the SS, with expectations of more to follow.

Lieber Kamerad Brandt!
Der Reichsführer-SS hatte seinerzeit angeordnet, dass die bei der Aktion in Kulmhof anfallenden Pelzsachen der Waffen-SS zur Verfügung gestellt werden sollten. Als bisheriges Ergebnis melde ich dazu, dass am 27. Juni 1942 ein Waggon voll hochwertiger Pelzsachen an das Hauptamt der Waffen-SS nach Berlin-Dahlem zurück zur Absendung gekommen ist.’
Es ist damit zu rechnen, dass im Herbst noch weitere Pelzsachen anfallen.
Ich bitte Sie, den Reichsführer-SS entsprechend zu unterrichten.

Dear Comrade Brandt!
The Reichsführer-SS had ordered at that time that the furs collected during the action in Kulmhof should be made available to the Waffen-SS. As a result so far, I report that on June 27, 1942, a wagon full of high-quality furs was sent to the main office of the Waffen-SS in Berlin-Dahlem for dispatch.
It is expected that more furs will be collected in the fall.
I ask you to inform the Reichsführer-SS accordingly.
