Introduction
This directive on “Burial sites of the Jews”, issued on 25 April 1942 by the District Commissioner of Wilna-Land (Vilnius Region), instructed local authorities that “the liquidation sites of the Jews must immediately be covered with sufficient quantities of chlorinated lime and the sites must be filled in with new earth”.

Betr.: Grabstätten der Juden.
Aus gegebener Veranlassung weise ich daraufhin, dass die Liquidierungsstätten der Juden sofort mit genügenden Mengen Chlorkalk bestreut und die Stätten mit neuer Erde aufgefüllt werden müssen.
Die Kreischefs weisen die örtlichen litauischen Polizeichefs an, diese Arbeiten durch einheimische Bauern entsprechend ausführen zu lassen. Nach Abwicklung der Arbeiten erstatten die Kreispolizeichefs dem Kreischef Meldung. Bis zum 10. Mai müssen diese Arbeiten erledigt sein, abschliessend erwarte ich Vollzugsmeldung an den SS- und Polizei-Gebietsführer Leutnant Sander.

Subject: Burial sites of the Jews.
On the basis of the present circumstances, I draw attention to the fact that the liquidation sites of the Jews must immediately be covered with sufficient quantities of chlorinated lime and the sites must be filled in with new earth.
The district chiefs are to instruct the local Lithuanian police chiefs to have this work carried out by local farmers accordingly. Upon completion of the work, the district police chiefs are to report to the district chief. This work must be completed by 10 May; thereafter I expect a final report of completion to the SS and Police Area Leader, Lieutenant Sander.
