Introduction
Carbon copy of letter issued by the Central Construction Office at Auschwitz, dated March 31, 1943, mentions “three gas-tight doors” (misspelled in the original) for Crematoria 4 and 5, as well as a “gas door” with “peephole made of double 8 mm glass” for Crematoria 2 and 3. This letter confirms the use of gas-tight installations within the crematoria at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Es wird auf o.a. Schreiben mitgeteilt, dass drei gasdichte Türme [sic] gemäß des Auftrages vom 18.1.43 für das Bw 30 b und 30 c auszuführen sind, genau nach den Ausmaßen und der Art der bisher angelieferten Türme [sic].
Bei dieser Gelegenheit wird an einen weiteren Auftrag vom 6.3.43 über Lieferung einer Gastür 100/192 für Leichenkeller I des Krematoriums III, Bw 30 a, erinnert, die genau nach Art und Maß der Kellertür des gegenüberliegenden Krematoriums II mit Guckloch aus doppel 8 – mm – Glas mit Gummidichtung und Beschlag auszuführen ist. Dieser Auftrag ist als besonders dringend anzusehen.
Die mit Auftrag vom 25.1.43 für Bw 30 bestellte Bodenabschlußtür, sowie 1 Stück Blendrahmentür braucht nicht ausgeführt werden, dieser Auftrag ist hinfällig.
Die vorbereiteten 10 cbm Brennholz werden bei nächster Gelegenheit abgeholt.

With reference to the above-mentioned letter, it is noted that three gas-tight towers [correct: doors] are to be manufactured in accordance with the order of January 18, 1943, for Bw 30 b and 30 c, exactly according to the dimensions and type of the towers [correct: doors] previously delivered.
On this occasion, attention is drawn to another order from March 6, 1943, for the delivery of a gas door 100/192 for Morgue I of Crematorium III, Bw 30 a, which is to be made exactly in the same style and dimensions as the basement door of the opposite Crematorium II, with peephole made of double 8 mm glass, rubber gasket, and fittings. This order is to be considered especially urgent.
The floor-sealing door and one flush door ordered on January 25, 1943, for Bw 30 no longer need to be executed; this order is obsolete.
The prepared 10 cubic meters of firewood will be picked up at the next opportunity.
