1941-08-29 / Radio Message from HSSPF South: “Jews Liquidated in the Operation at Kamenets-Podolsky ca. 20,000″

Introduction

On 29 August 1941, the Higher SS and Police Leader Russia South reported further on mass shooting of Jews in Kamenets-Podolsky. The radio message states that “the Staff Company shoots a further 7,000 Jews, bringing the total number of Jews liquidated in the operation at Kamenez Podolskij to approximately 20,000”. Significantly, the report also corrects figures and unit information contained in an earlier message. For the report of 27 August 1941, it instructs that the number of Jews shot on 27 August 1942 be revised from “5,000 to 11,000”, while the police battalion 320 rather than shooting “was employed only to cordon off the area”.
